VOLUNTEER AT AMBERLEY
Our volunteers are vital to the running of the Museum.
With many different areas to the Museum, we are always looking for new volunteers to help support the daily running of the site.
The Museum volunteers are organised in to groups, and for each of these there is a designated 'Head of Group' who leads their team, communicating with the Museum and organising their team rotas. We aim to have as many of the Museum areas open as possible every day, but this is dependent on having enough volunteers to cover the roles needed.
When a new volunteer joins the Museum, they are given a tour of the site, health and safety training, and then they allocated to an area of the Museum. This is determined by the skills that the volunteer brings to the Museum, and also by where volunteers are needed. Some of the volunteer roles are much more highly skilled than others.
Volunteers can give as much time to the Museum as they would like. This could be for a few hours, or days a week. Anyone can apply to be a volunteer at the Museum, but you must be over 16 years old (there is no upper age limit!). Whether you are retired, employed, a student, or looking for work experience to help you get on the career ladder, being a volunteer at Amberley Museum will bring you new skills or a hobby.
Some of our volunteers work just a season, and some have been here nearly 40 years!
